Explanation for the areas Pier Bandstand to The Pavillion

Beach Type: Sand and shingle 50/50 split beach not mixed sand shingle
Information: Weymouth lies within the "World Heritage Coast". The central beach is adjacent to the town centre and harbour with lots of activities and amusements during summer. The bay is sheltered and swimmers benefit from the gradually sloping sea bed.
Lifeguard: RNLI on the beach
Emergency Facilities: Yes RNLI Beach Lifeguards Service cover from 1st May to 30th September. Lifeboat in Weymouth Harbour
Pier: Remains of the original pier bandstand two other piers on each side of the harbour entrance one is the stone pier often used by anglers the other the pleasure pier which is wooden and can be accessed from near the pavillion
Dogs and Litter: The beach is cleaned daily by the Council from 1st May to 30th September. There are litter and dog bins on the beach and promenade. Dogs are not permitted on the main sections of Weymouth Central or Lodmoor between 1st May and 30th September.
Safe for Kids: YES shallow sandy bottom clear clean seawater seaweed free suitable for children of all ages and non swimmers under supervision..
Facilities: Toilets. disabled facilities and access. first aid post. lost child centre. café/restaurants. shops. slipway. beach huts. deckchair hire. pedalo hire and a promenade.
Activities: Swimming. scuba diving. snorkelling. sailing. jet skiing. sea canoeing. windsurfing. power boating. water skiing. fishing. beach volleyball. beach soccer. trampolines. beach crazy golf. tennis. land train. children's fair ride areas.
Getting There: Weymouth is signposted from junction 25 of the M5 or via the M27. A31. A35. A354. Pedestrian/visitor access to the beach is available from the promenade.
Parking: There are a number of carparks in the town Lodmoor, Swannary near King street, Multistorey, and disabled parking next to the pier bandstand on the beach.
Public Transport: Train services from London. Bristol. South West and South Wales. Regular and National Express buses from Poole. Bournemouth. Salisbury. Portland and Weymouth. Open top double decker service between Portland Bill and Weymouth seafront.
Wildlife and Walks: In the area there are town trails. RSPB guided tours. the South West Coastal Path Walk. Rangers Walks and Tours.

Coach Parking: Drop off points on the seafront. Coach Park is at Lodmoor to the east of the outskirts of the town heading towards Preston and Bowleaze
Villages near Weymouth: Abbotsbury, Langton Herring, Portesham, Fleet, Osmington, Sutton Pontz and Poxwell.
Towns Nearby: Dorset the County Town
Parking for Weymouth Beach: There are a small number of disabled bays infront of the pier bandstand, two more by marks and spencers, and two outside of the pavillion. The two nearest Carparks are the Multistorey carpark on commerical road and the Swanage Car park near King Street which is opposite the jubilee clock on the seafront.
Tourist Information Centre is on the seafront espanade near the Kings statue which is between the landmarks of the Jubilee Clock and the Pavillion.
Punch and Judy Shows: Near the Tourist Information Centre
Donkey Rides: Are near the small fair ground rides on the end of the beach nearest the Pavillion (large building with a green roof)
Water Rides: Pedalos, Canoes are available to hire on the beach
Deckchairs and Windbreakers can be hired for the day. Over 65's can use the deckchairs on the seafront for free!
