Seatown Beach

Looking at the photograph provided the building on the far left is the toilets, the next building along which looks like a garage with double doors is the icrecream shop, next to that is the Anchor Inn and its carpark.The cliffs behind the buildings is Golden Cap the highest Cliffs in the area. Seatown is also a fossil beach. Running across the beach is a fresh water stream that is hidden in this picture though it is near the slipway shown in front of the pubs carpark. There is also a very large carpark on the green which is on a slope nearest the beach. The photograph was taken from on a coastal walk path.

Beach Type: Shingle of various sizes, the beach is backed by very high cliffs and in some areas large rocks which are suitable for sitting on away from the cliffs.
Information: A steep shingle beach set in a bay. Great for collecting fossils. It is more suitable for shore fishing than sun bathing. The beach is backed by blue Lias cliffs which are unsafe and dangerous to climb.
Lifeguard: No
Emergancy Facilties: No nearest air sea rescue is Portland
Safe for Kids: Not young children or poor swimmers. There are no lifeguards at the beach but there are two Perry buoys. Bathers should be aware that this is a steeply shelving beach with steep drops in water depth.
Pier: No
Litter and Dogs: The beach is not cleaned but appears to be clean upon visiting but there are litter bins provided near the carparks and entrances to gateways.
Facilities: Toilets. including disabled toilets with a radar key. and the anchor pub serving meals, it has a garden overlooking the beach. Icecream shop selling drinks, ices and lollies and a few beach toys for children
Activities: Swimming and fishing. There is no zoning for water sports, small river runs onto the beach forming a shallow pool
Getting Here: Take the A35 and the beach is down a narrow lane from Chideock, just before the Clock Inn on the left (from Briport) its painted pink!
Parking: There is parking for 100 cars. There is a charge for using the car park £3 per day for cars which is refundable when you spend £20 in the Anchor Inn next to the beach
Public Transport: None.
Walking: There is a coastal path and cliff and seashore wildlife at the beach.

Note the road to Seatown is very narrow in places, caution required when driving on the single lane road.
Caravan Holiday Park nearby, the nearest main supermarket is in Bridport

On a fishing holiday also try West Bexington, Abbotsbury, Ringstead, Church Ope Cove Portland and Chesil Beach
