Beach Type: Shingle small amount of sand backed by hotels and a wide esplanade/walkway into Weymouth
Information: This is part of the Weymouth Bay and connects with the main Weymouth beach. There is a rocky wall providing a sheltered cove area which is more ideal for younger swimmers. This section of the beach is less crowded than Weymouth Sands.
Lifeguard: Lifeguards are on the main Weymouth beach
Emergency Facilities: Weymouth Lifeboat and Portland Air Sea Rescue base is nearby It is also near Weymouth Community Hospital
Pier: NO but 2 floating rafts are often provided off shore in the warmer months of summer. These are only suitable for stronger swimmers, due to the distance from the shore.
Safe for Kids: Yes older children not toddlers unless with adults present as the waters are not as shallow as the main beach. There is a man made built cove at Greenhill, though this gets very busy in the summer months, and is more suitable for families.
Facilities: Icecream and snacks from the beach huts
Parking: Lodmoor carpark is the nearest parking area and also has its own attractions
Public Transport: Bus Service stopping on Greenhill by the gardens from Preston area and from Weymouth
Walking: There is a mile long pathwath across the beach from from Greenhill to Overcombe from there climb the hill to see the Roman Temple area and also join the coastal cliff path
Other Information: Lodmoor Parking area is large and has coach spaces, it also has a cafe toilets a pub and hotel, go karts, a giant bumpy slide, sealife centre, mini golf, miniture train rides behind the sealife centre.
On the main path/esplanade overlooking the beach you can hop on the blue and white land train into Weymouth.
Also nearby is Weymouth Collage, Weymouth Community Hospital and A skate park
Jet ski hire and a small boat/Ski launch area is available at Bowleaze cove
