Beach Type: Pebbles and Rocks to the far end of the Cove
Information: The beach is at the End of Chesil Beach also known as Chesil Bank at this end of Chesil beach the pebbles are at their largest. Chesil is approximately 18 miles long and is often a favourite location for Anglers and Divers.
Lifeguard: Not on this beach
Emergency Facilities: No but the Air Sea Rescue helicopter is based at Portland and the lifeboat station is in Weymouth harbour, Weymouth beach has lifeguards.
Pier: No
Safe for Kids: Water drops of steeply though older children have been seen swimming there but it is not advisable, head for Castletown which is nearby for a small shall beach next to Portland Castle.
Facilities: Cafe overlooking the beach, nearby there is a pub and toilets in the carpark furthest away from the cove.
Parking: Very limited near the beach road parking nearby other car parks within walking distance
Public Transport: Nearest bus stop Portland Victoria Square
Walking: Portland is someone to explore with lots of narrow streets and walk ways, alternatively you could walk the length of Chesil!
Disabled beach access: Chesil Cove does have a slipway onto the beach which is meant for boats though can be used by a wheelchair user to gain access to the edge of the beach, the only other places suitable for similar access are Abbotsbury beach, West Bexington beach, Seatown beach and Westbay which are all beaches within the 18 mile stretch of Chesil beach.
Fishing Chesil beach is a very popular sea angling / beach casting mark for beginners to proffesional level
