Badbury Rings
Badbury Rings is an Iron Age hill fort in east Dorset, near Shapwick village. There are many examples of Bronze Age barrows, or burial mounds, which date from about 1700 B.C. The hill fort itself consists of three concentric, circular ditches that protect a large inner sanctuary for the inhabitants. Badbury Rings is believed to have been one of several settlements in the area belonging to an ancient Dorset tribe known as the 'Durotriges' Badbury Rings is on the B3082 between Wimborne Minster and Blandford, lying about 3 miles north-west of Wimborne.
